Them Bones, Them Bones
Know God’s Word. Speak it. Expect great things—impossibilities made reality through the living Word of God.
"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." -- Hebrews 4:12, NASB
Our bones are living, growing tissue made mostly of collagen and calcium. Collagen gives our framework flexibility. Calcium provides our structure its strength. Our spiritual skeleton should have the same qualities.
The Holy Spirit infuses us with pliability and power, helping us to grow, stretch, and move. He helps us to surrender our wills to God’s and to accept all that He has for us without getting our opinions in the way.
Like calcium in our physical bones, God’s spirit also gives us the strength to endure pressure, withstand stress, and stand firm. Without the nourishment-rich living Word at work in our being, we become rigid, stiff, and deficient in conviction – harder to bend, more likely to break.
When God showed the Prophet Ezekiel the skeletons in the desert and told him to speak life into the dry bones, Ezekiel knew exactly where rejuvenation would come from.
“O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!” (Ezekiel 37:4, NKJV)
When we receive the Spirit of His Word, the God who first made us, breathed His Spirit in us, is now and always fully able to lift us from any situation.
If you let Him, God will breathe into your vision again and animate your dreams.
Your God will bring life to what has passed--dreams you’ve given up on, lost family, parts of yourself you have ignored, as the urgent matters of life have taken over.
The same Spirit that makes your salvation a supernatural miracle is the Spirit that courses through the veins of the quickening—life-giving, Word of God whenever you speak it.
Know God’s Word. Speak it. Expect great things—impossibilities made reality through the living Word of God.
Watch the dry bones of your forgotten dreams,
the dusty old skeleton of your purpose, come alive.
Father,
Speak life into the dry bones of the dreams I have let die. Make me strong and pliable through Your Word. Give me a hunger for it and a boldness and timeliness in speaking it to others.
In Jesus' Name, Amen
